Hey ladies, Even though you aren't yet pregnant, your pregnancy journey officially starts right now. Yes, you heard it right. This is due to the fact that most medical professionals base their pregnancy timing on the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP).
Your body starts preparing for ovulation and fertilization in weeks 1 and 2 of pregnancy, which take place in week 3. You are in the first month of your pregnancy if you are one and a half weeks along. Just eight months remain! Have more inquiries? I'm here for you all.
Your uterine lining is shedding, taking the unfertilized egg from last month with it. This is likely your final period for a while. But other things are also going on. You are starting a new cycle, which is the beginning of your pregnancy. A symphony of hormones operating in harmony with one another controls your menstrual cycle.
1 FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) is the first to take effect and, as you would have guessed, it stimulates the follicles to mature, though some do so more quickly than others.
2 Around day 5, a second hormone called lutenizing hormone (LH) rises and cooperates with FSH to stimulate the follicles.
3 As the follicles mature, they produce another hormone, estrogen. Ovulation, which typically occurs 24 to 36 hours after the LH surge, is the process where the egg from the most mature follicle bursts through the ovarian wall to meet Mr. Right, the lucky sperm that will transform that eager egg into a baby-in-the-making and make your body's preparation work worthwhile.
The countdown to delivery day begins now. Consider the next two weeks as a final check-up before the baby takes the reins. Although you are not yet officially pregnant, it is not too early to act as though you are.
Relax, in the first week of pregnancy, there is no fetal development because conception has not yet taken place. Development of the baby begins after conception, in the second week of pregnancy.
Stay tuned for more ✨
