"My Conversations With Dawood Ibrahim" continues...
I made sure the charge-sheet in the IPL Spot Fixing Case was filed before I retired. Mister D
was named an absconding accused along with two of his associates based in Dubai/Karachi.
Necessary follow-up steps such as issuance of Interpol Red Notice, lookout notice and warrants of arrest from the trial court were taken despite knowing that similar measures taken in the past had gone in vain. D continues to be safely ensconced in Pakistan with no chance of our getting him back. The Government of Pakistan, despite being given precise details of his place of hiding, routinely denies his presence in their country.
I superannuated from the Indian Police Service on July 31, 2013. Now, when I look back on days gone by, I often wonder how destiny brought me inexorably to serve in the police and to deal with felons like D. But, those times were good while they lasted—exciting and adventurous—each day bringing its share of surprises and thrills.
After all, what more can a policeman ask for?
