"Operation Desert Safari" continues...
The clue given by the hostage about the landline number had kept us going around Begumpur and Sarvodaya Enclave, ignoring Sarvapriya Vihar.
Rajbir informed me of the development and we decided to meet at the Hauz Khas Police Colony
located on the Outer Ring Road, close to the IIT crossing. Sarvapriya Vihar was only a stone’s
throw away.
We gathered at the meeting-point in no time. It was about 4.30 in the afternoon. We left in
unmarked cars for Sarvapriya Vihar which wasn’t very far and regrouped again in a park. Our
presence aroused the suspicion of a few watchmen of the colony. It was broad daylight and it was most unusual for them to find strangers in such numbers animatedly talking to each other.
One thing was clear—the hiding place was in Sarvapriya Vihar and not in Begumpur. But the million dollar question was where in Sarvapriya Vihar? It's a fairly large colony with hundreds of houses located cheek by jowl. There was no option but to check each house in every lane to see
which one fully matched the description given by the hostage. We were closer to our destination but yet not there.
I took Rajbir aside and discussed with him the plan I had in mind. Every member of the team
needed to be reminded once again what we were looking for. All clues received from the hostage
had to be reiterated to everyone. Given that we were out in broad daylight, we had to do our best
to remain as inconspicuous as possible. The only way to do so was to be in ones and twos. Since
flats on every lane had to be cheked out if any of them matched the clues, it was decided that one person should approach the lane from one end and the second from the other side. In case, anyone found something of interest he should call Rajbir on his mobile, who in turn would inform me. We would all meet at the nearest point and decide collectively on our next move.
