18th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament from 17th November

Jalandhar: The 18th Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament for Mata Prakash Kaur Cup (Under 19 Boys) will be held from November 17 to November 24, 2024 at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar. Giving information in this regard, the president of the organizing committee Harbhajan Singh Kapur said that for the last 17 years this tournament has been organized by the Kapur family to raise the standard of hockey. A total of 13 teams are participating in this tournament this year. This tournament will be played on the basis of league cum knockout. He said that the winning team of the tournament will be given the Mata Prakash Kaur Cup as well as a cash amount of one lakh 50 thousand rupees. While the runner-up team will be given one lakh rupees in cash and a trophy. Rs. 80000 cash will be given to the third placed team and Rs 60000 cash to the fourth placed team. During the tournament, In the memory of Harmohinder Kaur wife of S. Gursharan Singh Kapur ,A fair play trophy will be given. During the tournament, the best goalkeeper, the best full back, the best half back, the best forward, the best scorer and the most emerging player will be given cash prizes of ten thousand rupees each. They will be selected by a committee based on Olympian Ajitpal Singh Padma Shri. He further said that the organizing committee has also decided that after every match the best player of the match will be announced, he will be given a hockey stick, track suit and kit bag. He further informed that Hockey India has appointed Harinder Singh Sangha as Tournament Director. While Olympian Sanjeev Kumar will be the chief observer. The tournament will be inaugurated by Namdhari Satguru Uday Singh on November 17 at 12-30 pm. The opening match of the tournament will be played between Army Boys Sports Company (Bangalore) and Round Glass Hockey Academy Mohali.
