Round Glass Academy enters quarter finals
Surjit Hockey Academy Jalandhar, Sonipat register victories
Round Glass Hockey Academy Mohali defeated PIS Malwa Hockey Academy Ludhiana 7-1 to enter the quarter finals of the 18th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament. Four matches of the league round were played on the third day of the tournament being held at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium.
In the first match, in Pool C, Namdhari XI drew 1-1 with Eknoor Hockey Academy Tehang. In the 15th minute of the game, Navraj Singh of Namdhari scored a goal to make the score 1-0. In the 57th minute of the game, Damanpreet Singh scored a goal for Eknoor to make the score 1-1. Both the teams got one point each. Dhandeep Mehmi of Eknoor Hockey Academy was declared the best player of the match.
In the second match, Pool B National Centre of Excellence Sonipat registered its first victory by defeating SGPC Amritsar 2-1. In the 42nd minute of the game, Sukhdev Singh of SGPC scored a goal to make the score 1-0. In the 47th and 55th minutes of the game, Ashu Moriya scored two goals to win the match by making the score 2-1. Ashu Moriya of Sonipat was declared the best player of the match.
In the third match, Round Glass Hockey Academy Mohali defeated PIS Malwa Hockey Academy Ludhiana 7-1 in Pool D and entered the quarter-finals with 6 points after winning the second consecutive league round. Round Glass scored goals in the third minute of the game by Arjandeep of Round Glass, in the fourth minute by Gursevak Singh, in the 9th and 23rd minutes by Amandeep, in the 40th minute by Gursevak Singh, in the 50th minute by Prince Kumar. In the 54th minute, Daljit Singh of Ludhiana scored a goal to make the score 1-7. Gursevak Singh of Round Glass was declared the best player of the match.
In the fourth match, in Pool A, Surjit Hockey Academy Jalandhar defeated Major Dhyan Chand Sports College Safai 4-0 to register its first victory.
