Thompson Italian, a popular restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia, has expanded its presence with a second location in Old Town Alexandria. Originally searching for a spot for a Tex-Mex restaurant, the owners, Gabe and Katherine Thompson, were drawn to the space previously occupied by Hank's Oyster Bar and saw it as a perfect fit for their Italian concept. They brought on chef Lucy Dakwar, who had previously worked with Gabe Thompson, to lead the kitchen. Dakwar has crafted a menu with creative dishes like lamb meatballs and stracciatella cheese paired with roasted carrots. The restaurant also offers a variety of homemade pastas, including a standout squid ink bucatini with scallops. Future additions may include dishes inspired by Dakwar's Palestinian heritage.
