Impact on India continues....
These indications of IM’s allegiance to al Qaeda are further strengthened by the group’s assertions that “there is no difference in the shari’ah between a soldier and civilian. Rather the shari’ah
divides people into combatant and non-combatant. And combatant is anyone who help in the fight with his body, wealth or opinion.”
CONCLUSION
From the above discussions, a few relevant, and reasonable conclusions can be drawn. Foremost, from India’s perspective, is the possibility of terrorist groups gaining ground after the US drawdown in Afghanistan. The Taliban’s domination of southern and eastern parts of Afghanistan and its alliance with extremist and terrorist groups operating on the eastern flank of the Durand Line could expand terrorist sanctuaries on the Pakistan side, raising the possibility of a renewed attempt to ignite Kashmir Jihad with the help of these groups.
Second is the re-emergence of al Qaeda and its allied groups in the region. Third would be the expansion and outreach of there groups deep into South Asia.
Fourth concerns Pakistan. Grappling with the threat of terrorism engulfing the country, a renewed proxy war against India could present perhaps the only way out of the mess for Pakistan.
All these mean a long period of instability for the region ahead.
