"Operation Desert Safari" continues...

That there was perfect synergy and understanding between the two teams is a tribute to the espirit de corps that still exists in our country’s police community. The use of technical data and swift fieldwork were some of the other highlights of the operation. No amount of praise is enough for ACP Rajbir Singh but for whose involvement and commitment this operation would not have succeeded.

And, last but not the least, it is my firm belief that everything went off well in the end was not only on account of our efforts but also because of Divine Grace that guided us at every stage.

With deep regret, I have to inform the readers that three members of the dramatis personae of this story, namely ACP Rajbir Singh, Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and Sub-Inspector Mehtab Singh have since departed from this world; one falling to a bullet on account of personal enmity, and the other two in the line of duty. I remember them fondly while recording my recollections of this police operation and pay them my homage. They were exceptional police officers, the likes of whom are difficult to find today. I will always remember
them fondly and miss them. May they rest in peace.
