2nd ODI between India and Australia: Rohit Sharma Retains Captaincy as Hosts Look To Complete Series
When India played Australia in the second One-Day International on Sunday in Visakhapatnam, with regular skipper Rohit Sharma back in the lineup after missing the first match in Mumbai, the focus will be on KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja once more. At the Wankhede Stadium, India defeated Australia by five wickets in a low-scoring match. Rahul, who had been benched for the third and fourth Tests of the Border-Gavaskar series due to poor form, patiently scored an unbeaten 75 as the hosts cruised to victory.
Jadeja hit an unbeaten 45 in the pursuit of 188 on Friday, playing ODI cricket for the first time in nearly eight months owing to a knee injury and subsequent surgery.
An effective Rahul and a physically fit Jadeja will be a benefit as India hosts the ODI World Cup later this year, and the three-match series will allow the selectors to gauge the pair's development.
India would strive to secure a 2-0 series lead and make up for their mistakes with the bat, which left them in a precarious position at 4/39 and subsequently 5/83 until Rahul and Jadeja joined forces at the wicket to lead the hosts to win with 61 balls remaining.
