Renowned chef Omar Hegazi, originally from Cairo, has recently returned to New York. However, his departure hasn't left a void in the kitchen of Kirby Club, a culinary venture brought to life by Rose Previte, the creative mind behind the popular Maydan and Compass Rose in Washington. Located in the Mosaic District of Northern Virginia, Kirby Club offers an array of delectable options, including luscious dips, flavorful kebabs, and enticing "picnic platters." The menu caters to both individual diners and those who enjoy sharing, with plates for one featuring a variety of mouthwatering kebabs accompanied by fluffy yellow rice, sumac-spiked onions, and vibrant salads. The "picnic platters" pay homage to Previte's childhood memories and offer a wholesome experience with whole roast chicken, crispy crinkle-cut fries, and a range of flavorful sauces. Additionally, Kirby Club has introduced lunch hours, presenting couscous bowls and tantalizing "handhelds" such as lavash wraps filled with chicken shawarma, falafel, or succulent beef-and-lamb kofta complemented by melted feta cheese, tomato, and tangy pickled onions. Enhancing the experience further are the sumac-flavored pita chips that perfectly accompany any wrap.
