Chapter 2 continues…

This dual strategy has not always been beneficial for Pakistan. It has strained Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan and the international community at large. A number of Pakistani analysts believe that it has lost all its allies within Afghanistan, which in turn has limited its future options. Similarly, Pakistan’s relations with the US, at least since President Barack Obama took office, have often been on the brink of collapse with increasing domestic pressure in the US against continuing military aid for Pakistan. The future of US-Pakistan relations is as uncertain at the moment as the future of Afghanistan, especially since the US drawdown is likely to reduce the American dependence on Pakistan.
