On 4th November, 2003, Commandant, 16th Bn ITBP was informed by a reliable source about presence of some terrorists in Area Amar Singh Pura (J&K). On this information, an operation was quickly planned and a party was formed including 02 men of STF after which parties swiftly reached the area.

When the sub group led by Sh.Parminder Singh, AC along with HC/GD Roop Singh moved forward stealthily taking the cover of thick vegetation and undergrowth to nab the terrorists and reached 30 metres

from the target, the terrorist spotted them and started firing indiscriminately.

HC/GD Roop Singh and Sh. Parminder Singh, AC showing great presence of mind and courage, immediately took cover and retaliated the fire.

There was exchange of fire between them for some time. Amidst exchange of fire, HC/GD Roop Singh exhibiting tremendous presence of mind, safety, charged towards the terrorist and which resulted in killing of the terrorist. Arms and Amm recovered from the slain terrorist.
