A recent survey conducted by healthcare provider Pristyn Care among 4,000 residents in Delhi, Mumbai, and nearby areas has unveiled distressing statistics about the impact of air pollution on individuals' lives. The survey indicates that a staggering 60% of people in New Delhi and Mumbai are contemplating relocation due to the worsening air quality in these cities.
The findings shed light on the widespread health issues caused by deteriorating Air Quality Index (AQI), with nine out of 10 respondents experiencing common symptoms such as persistent coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, sore throat, and irritated eyes. The report also reveals that 40% of respondents noticed a deterioration in pre-existing respiratory conditions among their loved ones during the winter season.
Furthermore, the survey emphasizes the significant impact on lifestyle, with 35% of respondents discontinuing outdoor activities like exercise and running, and 30% resorting to wearing masks outdoors. Surprisingly, only 27% reported using air purifiers, and 43% still harbor the misconception that air purifier use reduces immunity. The findings underscore the urgent need for comprehensive measures to address the escalating air pollution crisis in these major Indian cities.
