They were then taken to Arpit Palace Hotel in Karol Bagh, Delhi and confined in Room 206. The next day (November 17, 2001), the two girls were taken from one jewellery shop to the other. People running the shops seemed to know Mike, Chiku and Noorie rather well. The shopkeepers in collusion with the miscreants stripped all assets held on their credit cards under the guise of selling some jewellery. In reality, no jewellery was delivered to them. All they got were receipts. Judy was made to call her husband Purdy in Australia and ask him to put more money in her account. She was made to tell her husband that she had taken a motorcycle on rent and damaged it in an accident. She required money to pay compensation to the renting agency. Purdy could manage and deposit only 4000 Australian dollars which was immediately withdrawn by the miscreants. Similarly, Joan was forced to call her father, an executive in an oil company in London, and ask him to send 10,000 pounds by money transfer through Western Union as she, too, was in some sort of trouble. He sent 6000 pounds which too was forcibly taken away by Mike a.k.a. Mikesh.
Mike kept making sexual advances to Joan from the time they left Jaipur. Once he even pulled down her pants but Joan managed to ward him off with great difficulty. In a jewellery shop in Karol Bagh, where Mike had escorted Joan, the shopkeeper tried to get extra friendly with her, passed lewd remarks and subjected her to several indignities.
Once when Joan was away with Mike, Chiku was left to guard Judy in her hotel room. Chiku told Judy that he knew a special technique of massage that would soothe her
frayed nerves. He forced her to sit on a bed and started massaging the back of her neck and then fondled her breasts. He was about to sexually assault her when there was a knock at the door. Joan had returned with Mike and Judy was saved in the nick of time.
