A Bold Journey: Four Women Challenge Taboos in 'A Virtuous Business'"

The upcoming drama A Virtuous Business has unveiled its main poster, sparking excitement for its bold storyline. The series, a remake of the British TV show Brief Encounters, follows the growth, independence, and friendship of four women in a rural village in 1992. These women embark on the unconventional journey of selling adult products door-to-door, at a time when open discussions about sex were considered taboo.

The drama stars Kim So Yeon as Han Jung Sook, a virtuous housewife and former beauty pageant winner. She is joined by Kim Sung Ryung as Oh Geum Hee, a sophisticated strategist; Kim Sun Young as the energetic Seo Young Bok; and Lee Se Hee as the bold fact-checker Lee Joo Ri. Together, they take on the challenge of selling adult products while uncovering the hidden desires of their conservative village.

In Geumje, a rural town struggling with conservative values, the villagers relied on shapewear and secretly consumed information on intimacy, disguised as cooking recipes in women’s magazines. The four protagonists each face personal struggles, from Jung Sook’s unreliable husband to Geum Hee’s dull marriage. Young Bok’s life is marked by poverty and the demands of four children, while Joo Ri is a single mother constantly judged for raising her son alone.

The women’s motto, “We women also have a right to passionate sex lives and to enjoy it,” drives them to promote the "Fantasy Lingerie" line. Their bold sales venture gradually transforms the villagers’ views on sexuality, opening up new conversations about desires. The main poster shows the women in bold and extravagant styles, with the powerful message: “My dear, pursue your desires!”
