When we started the elimination of inflammatory grains and dairy, and the rebuilding diet, the frequency of motions began decreasing. he began to feel normal; in four months, his medicine intake for colitis had come down to zero. he did have a relapse when he reintroduced dairy (bleeding when passing stool, low haemoglobin and high inflammatory markers). after that relapse, he swore he would not touch dairy products. he has also gained some weight, 6 kg, and now has a normal bMI.
The Case of the epileptic lady;
Ms J. was twenty-three years old and had a history of epilepsy from the age of twelve (she was on medication for this). she’d been quite ill since childhood (tuberculosis when she was four years old and then typhoid). Fevers were frequent over the last decade too. Not unnaturally, she’d become depressed at twenty-two (and was being treated for it), and for the last three years, hadn’t left her room or often, even her bed. she slept most of the day because of the medicines and was abusive at night; it was impossible for her to attend college. she was a very fussy eater as a child.
Most of her family and friends had given up on her; even the doctors were suggesting that she be tied up and taken to a rehab centre at a premier hospital in India.
Presenting Symptoms;
• Epilepsy
• breathlessness; poor eyesight
• Frequent stomach aches and a bad case of acne
Investigation revealed low haemoglobin, vitamin d and vitamin b12. her celiac markers were negative. she hadn’t been breastfed as a baby and had been given cow’s milk right at the beginning. her mother had suffered jaundice during her pregnancy. I told her mother that she was suffering from a leaky gut because of wheat and it was worsened by medication. she changed her diet instantly. We eliminated inflammatory grains and dairy. Within a few weeks, there was a magical transformation.
