A day out hiking to Pulie Badze, Nagaland. The legendary story of Pulie Badze goes something like this – there was a brave farmer named ‘Pulie’ who died trying to kill a serpent which used to eat up all his harvest. Apparently the serpent swallowed Pulie and he became a spirit. When Pulie’s family came looking for him, they could only hear his voice. The family later realized what had happened, and kept a stone in the shape of a chair in the field and told Pulie ‘to be seated’ and hence the name roughly translates to the same meaning. Located few kilometers away from Jotsoma village in Kohima district (approx 10Kms from Kohima), the trek to the hilltop is pretty pleasant with a breathtaking view to make for a blissful outing!
