A new era for India cricket team has begun! A young and exciting Team India, led by Shubman Gill, has set off for Zimbabwe to compete in a five-match T20I series starting July 6th.

This tour marks a significant transition for Indian cricket. Following the T20 World Cup victory, senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have announced their retirement from T20Is. This opens the door for a new generation of talent to showcase their skills.

The BCCI shared photos on social media featuring the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Mukesh Sharma, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, and Tushar Deshpande, all eager to prove themselves on the international stage. VVS Laxman was also present in the photo shared by BCCI.

Notably, this series sees maiden call-ups for promising IPL stars like Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Tushar Deshpande.

Shubman Gill will don the captain's hat, leading a squad that blends experience with youthful exuberance. Three players - Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube - will join the team after their T20 World Cup commitments.

Additionally, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan, who were part of the World Cup travelling reserves, will bolster the squad.

With VVS Laxman taking over as the interim head coach in Rahul Dravid's absence, this tour serves as a crucial stepping stone for the future of Indian cricket. The young players will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience against Zimbabwe and stake their claim for a permanent spot in the national team.
