Abdul Karim Tamana, an Afghan poet, died in Iran at the age of 83.
Faramarz Tamana, the son of Mr. Abdul Karim Tamna, wrote in a tweet on Friday (August 8): "Master Abdul Karim Tamana, a father who was an example of wisdom, humility, truth and philanthropy, has joined immortality."
In the message of Mr. Tamana, it is stated that his father "lived a lifetime with books and reading books and did not turn away from learning, today they joined immortality far from their country."
A number of political and cultural figures also wrote messages on social networks in honor of his literary career and death.
Rangin Dadfar Sapenta, the former National Security Adviser of Afghanistan, wrote in a tweet: "Afghanistan's cultural society has lost another one of its wise men." Abdul Karim Tamna Farhikhta a poet who spent his life in the service of literature and the people of Afghanistan and burned in the pain of his homeland until his last breath, died in exile.
Abdul Ghafoor Arzu, a poet and writer, also wrote in a Facebook message: "The epitome of piety and wisdom, the grace and virtue of Master Abdul Karim Tamana, gave his life to the creator of the world."
According to the biography published on Abdul Karim Tamna's website, he was born in the year 1319 ( solar calendar) in the village of Sarostan, located in the south of Herat.
He was in charge of the public library of Herat for 14 years and also participated in the Loya Jirga for the formation of the constitution during the time of Daud Khan as a lawyer from Golran district of Herat.
At the end of Daud Khan's rule, he served as the district governor of Zinda Jan district (Foshanaj) for a while at the request of the then governor of Herat.
Abdul Karim Tamana went to Iran after the Soviet Union attacked Afghanistan in 1358 and stayed there until his death.
The collection of poems of this prominent poet of Herat named "Omar Link" was published in 2015.
In 2019, Baisanghar Research Institute published his "Arjnameh" which includes literary articles of this poet
