The book is the story of a man struggling to live in a dystopian world where everyone and everything is under the close watch of 'big brother'. Any voice against him is crushed to the roots.

It is a cautionary tale of when power is concentrated in the hands of a single person.

The book was written and published by George Orwell in 8 june 1949 and was his ninth and final book of his lifetime.
