We often see how students are devoid of practical experiences; all their lives, they gain theoretical knowledge that diminishes their chances to understand life in a better way.
And keeping a social service as an activity in colleges would help them learn something useful while also bringing a much-needed change in society.
With the passing of time, people are renouncing social acts and responsibilities; they are more involved in looking at their priorities that even a minute is hard to expect for social service or anything.
So adding it to their curriculum is not at all wrong.
A form of activity, like anything else they do to gain good grades and experience, will be an add-on to their professional profiles as well as personal life and understanding.
It all depends on how it is done; it does not look like an imposition.
