Afghanistan's national futsal team played yesterday in its first match in the International Continental Cup, against the Czech Republic team, which is 14th in Europe. This game from the second group of this competition was held in Thailand and finally ended in a 4-4 tie so that both teams shared the points.
The futsal team of the Czech Republic, which has played in the World Cup many times and reached the third place in the European Futsal Championship twice in 2003 and 2010, was stopped yesterday against the Afghanistan national futsal team. For Afghanistan, Bahman Gergij scored in the 8th minute, Tomas Kodilka (own goal) in the 20th minute, Seyed Hossein Mousavi in the 26th minute and Mehran Gholami scored in the 29th minute.
The Czech Republic team is now 20th in the ranking of the best teams in the world and 14th in Europe. Afghanistan ranks 66th in the world and 14th in Asia.
In the continental cup international futsal competition, teams from Afghanistan, Thailand, Czech Republic, Myanmar, Solomon Islands and Mozambique are present and compete against each other in two groups of three teams. The Afghanistan futsal team is in the second group with the teams of the Czech Republic and Mozambique. In the first group are the teams of Thailand, Solomon Islands and Myanmar.
