Agastya Nanda's Candid Revelation: Unaware of Grandfather Amitabh Bachchan's Stardom

Agastya Nanda, scion of the illustrious Bachchan family, made a remarkable Bollywood debut in Zoya Akhtar’s film, 'The Archies.' Despite his cinematic lineage, Agastya recently shared with Film Companion that he was oblivious to the colossal fame of his grandfather, Amitabh Bachchan, for a substantial part of his early years.

In an interview, Agastya disclosed that the Bachchan household had a tradition of not discussing work matters at home. He reflected, “The way my family has been, they don’t bring work home. My nana never spoke about work at home. So, I found it very normal. I thought, ‘Okay, he’s a normal granddad,’ but I only realized when he came to school on annual day that, ‘Oh god, he is someone.’ It was so normal up till then.”

This revelation unveils the down-to-earth upbringing within the Bachchan family, where the legendary Amitabh Bachchan's iconic status was shielded from Agastya, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining a sense of normalcy amidst the glamour of the film industry.
