Good news for Indian Air Force!
Airbus is setting up a fully operational factory in Vadodara, Gujarat, where the first India-made C295 military transport aircraft will start rolling out from 2026.
The C295 will boost IAF's transport duties, carrying troops and material across the country.
Under the deal, 56 C295 aircraft will replace the IAF's Avro fleet. Airbus will deliver 16 'fly-away' aircraft, while Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) will manufacture and assemble the remaining 40 in India.
The factory will have a capacity of producing 12 aircraft per year, and it will operate with the same standards as the Airbus final assembly line in Spain.
The C295 will provide 15,000 high-skilled jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs in India's aerospace sector.
