Akbar's shield. Beautifully crafted, never used in war. Only some of the gold has come off because of age.
“Buland Iqbal Shahinshah Akbar” reads the inscription on this beautifully decorated shield made of wootz, gold and cotton. The shield is decorated with holy words and icons to invoke the blessings of all the gods to protect Akbar. The date of its crafting is given as ce 1593. Now in the museum at Mumbai.
