In a candid revelation, Amitabh Bachchan addressed long-standing speculations about his wife Jaya Bachchan's decision to step back from her acting career. During a 1990 interview shared by Lehren, Amitabh clarified that Jaya's choice was entirely her own, motivated by her desire to focus on their family after the birth of their children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan.

Amitabh dispelled rumors that Jaya left the film industry to avoid potential conflicts similar to those depicted in their movie "Abhimaan." He emphasized that Jaya, who was a superstar when they married in 1973, chose to prioritize her family willingly and retained the freedom to return to acting whenever she wished.
