An increasing population is not good for any country. India, now the most populous country in the world faces many challenges that validate the point why a large population is bad for the growth of the country.
It can impose many challenges on the country, larger population puts increased pressure on essential resources like food, water, energy, and raw materials.
If resource consumption exceeds the rate of replenishment or sustainable production, it can lead to scarcity, environmental degradation, and competition among individuals and nations.
There’s one more problem which cannot be ignored and that is overpopulation in urban areas. Rapid population growth in urban areas can lead to overcrowding, strain on public services, increased poverty, inadequate housing, traffic congestion, and inadequate sanitation.
These issues can negatively affect the quality of life and this is happening in many metropolitan states in India.
Although the larger population can potentially contribute to economic growth, it also poses economic challenges. The availability of job opportunities may need to catch up with population growth, resulting in unemployment and income inequality.
Meeting the basic needs of a growing population can strain government budgets and social welfare systems.
More than the pros, there are cons of a large population!
