Andrew Tate and Greta Thunberg have been involved in a Twitter feud that began when Tate boasted about the emissions of his fleet of cars to Thunberg. Thunberg responded by mocking him with a tweet that read, "Yes, please do enlighten me. email me at smalldickenergy@getalife.com"

Tate has gained notoriety for his frequent misogynistic remarks and has been banned from several social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook, for his sexist remarks. He has faced criticism for comparing women to property, demeaning the intelligence of the entire sex, and claiming that women should "bear responsibility" for being sexually assaulted.

Tate's Romanian home was raided by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DICCOT) in Bucharest following the exchange with Thunberg, reportedly in connection with a human-trafficking investigation. Authorities are believed to have used his social media posts, including a video he posted on Christmas Day with the caption "Romania," to track him down. He has since sparked revulsion and outrage with a flood of content on the internet.

In August 2022, Tate was banned from various social media platforms because of his harmful behaviour indoctrinating young boys to physically, mentally and sexually assault girls.

Romanian investigators said they looked through Tate's social media posts for evidence that he was in Romania, and his video contained evidence such as boxes from Jerry's Pizza, a Romanian chain with branches in Bucharest. This has fueled speculation that the pizza boxes were what drew Romanian authorities to Tate.
