Angel Di Maria says PSG handed all power to Mbappe despite the presence of Messi
Angel Di Maria departed from PSG in the summer after spending close to seven years at the French club. Although, he could not achieve European glory with the club, yet he achieved inmense success at the domestic level. The Argentine winger has taken a dig at PSG's over-reliance on Kylian Mbappe, in the presence of Lionel Messi.
Di Maria believes that PSG has handed all the power to the French striker, despite having Lionel Messi in their ranks. He further added that France as a country places too much responsibility on the shoulders of Kylian Mbappe. President Emmanuel Macron also persuaded him to not join Real Madrid in the last summer transfer window.
"I think France in general have given Mbappe a lot of responsibility. The people, the president, PSG. They made him stay when he could have left and gave him all the power to be him and no one else. But there's a big difference, they gave him all that power with the best in history [Messi] next to him," said Di Maria.
PSG were handed a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the first leg of the UCL Round of 16 clash. Kylian Mbappe came off the bench to spring some life into PSG's attack in the second half, but could not do much to stop the German side from winning the away leg.
