Yet another commanding performance was shown by Team India, securing a 2-0 lead in the T20I series against Australia!
It was a win by 44 runs in Trivandrum! 🙌
The host country, India were invited to bat first piled a massive 235/4 on the board. Australia in response could only manage 191/9 in their full quota of overs.
India showed another spectacular performance. The bowling and fielding were nothing short of stellar in the defense, showcasing the team's all-around brilliance.
The proceedings kicked-off with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad giving India a strong start. The pair added 77 runs for the opening wicket in 5.5 overs before Jaiswal departed for 25-ball 53. Ishan Kishan then joined Gaikwad in the middle and guided India beyond 100 at the midway stage. He then switched tempo and completed his half-century in 29 balls, before getting out to Marcus Stoinis for 52(32).
Gaikwad also completed his half-century before getting out in the final over for 58(43). Rinku Singh chipped in with an unbeaten 31, which came off 9 deliveries.
Australia then got off to a slow start as Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel combined to inject three blows inside the powerplay. Bishnoi got rid of Matthew Short and Josh Inglis in consecutive overs, while Axar got rid of dangerous Glenn Maxwell for 12(8) in the final ball of the powerplay. Prasidh Krishna then removed Steve Smith for 19(16). Marcus Stoinis and Tim David kept Australia in hunt and added 81 runs for the fifth wicket. Bishnoi then dismissed David for 37(22) and shortly after Mukesh Kumar removed Stoinis for 45(25). Australia then lost momentum and lost wickets quickly. Matthew Wade did connect some lusty blows towards the end but it was not enough to guide Australia home.
Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna finished with three wickets each, while Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Mukesh Kumar picked a wicket each.
Congratulations to the Men in Blue on this dominant win! 🇮🇳 with Yashasvi Jaiswal receives the Player of the Match award for his solid opening act with the bat 👏
All eyes are now set on the 3rd T20I, where we aim to seal the series.
