Former Inter manager Antonio Conte returned to San Siro with Tottenham and was unable to defeat Milan, but he is optimistic for the return leg.
After a 1-0 loss at Milan in the Champions League, Antonio Conte insisted Tottenham could overcome their first-leg deficit.
Brahim Diaz scored in the seventh minute at San Siro, nodding in from close range after Fraser Forster saved shots from the Spaniard and Theo Hernandez.
Milan could have extended their lead in the second half but missed opportunities, giving Tottenham reason to be optimistic ahead of the second leg in London on March 8.
Former Inter manager Conte wants the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to have the same atmosphere as the San Siro, believing that it will help Spurs reach the quarter-finals.
"You have to play two games," he told BT Sport. It was a wonderful atmosphere. I know how difficult it is to play in this atmosphere at San Siro.
"Without a doubt, the second game will be played in our stadium, and without a doubt, all of the fans will create the right atmosphere to push us past the Milan obstacle."
"I think it was better today - high intensity, and I think we played against a good team. "Don't forget that Milan won the Italian league last season," Conte said.
"I believe we can do much better than concede the first goal. We gave up a goal after only about five minutes.
"Then we tried to lead the game, we tried to create situations to score, but I think Milan defended very well. We had chances to score, but in the end, it was a defeat, a loss."
Conte was without Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for Tuesday's last-16 first leg in Italy due to suspension, but he will play in the second leg, which is a huge boost.
