Apple's latest iPhone 15 series has set off a frenzy among consumers, leading to a substantial ramp-up in production efforts by Foxconn, Apple's primary manufacturing partner. The heart of this surge is Foxconn's main iPhone assembly plant in Zhengzhou, China, which is operating at full throttle, and its factory in Chennai, India, now employing 35,000 workers. To keep up with surging demand, Foxconn is on a hiring spree with ambitious plans to expand its workforce to 200,000 in the next three years.

One notable outcome of this production surge is the increasing footprint of Apple in India. The iPhone 15 series, especially the high-end iPhone 15 Pro, has witnessed an overwhelming response globally. In response, Foxconn is significantly boosting its iPhone production capacity in India, aiming to assemble a more substantial proportion of iPhones on Indian soil. This move is supported by the Indian government, with investments expected to grow from $8 billion to five times that amount in the next three years.

Reducing dependence on China has been a strategic move for Apple, and India plays a crucial role in achieving this. The proportion of iPhones produced in India is projected to reach 25% by 2025, significantly narrowing the gap with China.

India's rising high-end mobile market is another driver of Apple's success. With a 112% increase in the high-end mobile phone market in Q2 compared to the previous year, Apple holds a dominant 59% market share in the ultra-high-end smartphone segment.

This impressive performance in India, marked by record-breaking revenue and growth, suggests that Apple's focus on the iPhone 15 series in the Indian market will continue to intensify, solidifying its position in the world's third-largest smartphone market.
