Following a season of progression and extraordinary moments which just came up short, there are many worthy candidates for Arsenal's player of the season award.
Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka has won Arsenal's last two player of the season awards and it wouldn't be a far cry to see him win this one either. The young winger has gone from strength to strength yet again this season, amassing an incredible 24 league G/A, placing him amongst Europe's elite at just 21 years old.
Gabriel
Gabriel Magalahaes started the season in shaky form, making a few mistakes that didn't ultimately cost Arsenal. Since that bump however, he has arguably been Arsenal's most consistent performer. The Brazilian has matured into a monstrous defender, winning almost everything in the air and constantly winning his duals. The loss of his partner William Saliba hurt Arsenal's defence towards the end of the season but Gabriel's levels didn't drop.
Granit Xhaka
Granit Xhaka looks set to leave Arsenal this summer but will leave on the back of his best ever Arsenal campaign. Mikel Arteta deployed the Swiss in a more advanced position this season and Xhaka duely obliged, returning 14 league G/A, by far his best tally. Xhaka has given Arsenal cultured, technical performances combined with the usual gritty fight one can expect from the former captain. He will leave Arsenal with a big hole to replace.
Gabriel Martinelli
With the mention for Saka, Martinelli deserves just as much credit on the other wing. Martinelli has found a new level this season, scoring 15 goals in the league. He is a constant threat for opposition defenders and is primed to explode in future seasons.
Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko deserve mentions but my nominee for player of the season must go to the squad's captain.
Martin Odegaard
Odegaard, with 15 goals and 8 assists this season is simply one of the best midfielders in Europe. The midfielder has led his teammates, creating consistent chances, pressing from the front and finding the net regularly. He is Arsenal's player of the season and rightly is in the same conversation for the League's award.
