Australia take over India in WTC 2023 final

In the final, Australia posted an impressive 469 runs in the first inning, led by standout performances from Travis Head and Steve Smith. Despite Mohammed Siraj taking four wickets, India struggled against Australia's batting lineup.

India's response fell short, with Ajinkya Rahane (89) and Shardul Thakur (51) providing resistance. But Australia's superior bowling attack, led by Pat Cummins (3 wickets) and Steve Smith (2 wickets), dismissed India for 296.

Australia extended their lead with 270 more runs in the third inning. They declared at 270/8, setting a target of 444 runs for India. India's batting collapsed, and they were bowled out for 234, despite contributions from Virat Kohli (49) and Ajinkya Rahane (46).

Nathan Lyon claimed four wickets in the final innings, supported by Scott Boland's three wickets.
