Austrian Open: Nagal beats Klein in first round

Sumit Nagal fought his way past qualifier Luks Klein of Slovakia 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(3) in the first round of the €651,865 ATP tennis tournament on clay in Kitzbuhel, Austria.

In the pre-quarterfinals, Sumit will challenge the fourth seed Pedro Martinez of Spain.

Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and Sriram Balaji opted out of the ATP event in Umag, Croatia, this week, to prepare for the Olympics in Paris. In the $115,000 WTA event in Warsaw, Poland, second seed Mai Hontama of Japan beat Ankita Raina 7-5, 6-2 in the first round.
