Avatar is a an amazing SciFi movie that changed the landscape of Hollywood with its brilliant use of 3d technology and CGI. When it came out it was one of a kind. The movie was written, produced and directed by James Cameron. The movie stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, etc. The movie is set in the 22nd Century and humans are colonizing Pandora, which is moon in another solar sysytem. The local extraterrestrials are called Na'vi. They are humanoids, most of them are 10ft tall and are blue-skinned. The air of Pandora is toxic to humans. Na'vi worship the mother goddess, Eywa. The Avatar refers how genetically engineered Na'vi bodies are created to be controlled by humans from remote locations. Humans want the resources of Pandora as Earth's natyal resources have depleted. The most valuabe resource is unobtanium. The conflict in the movie is about colonization and man vs nature.
Jake Sully is an ex-marine who's lost the ability to walk, he's brought into the Avatar program because his twin brother died and the body of the Avatar accepts the same DNA only. Jake is ordered by Colonel Miles to gather information on the Na'vi's gathering place , Hometree as there is a huge amount of unobtanium under it. Jake grows close to Neytiri and has a change of heart. He sides with the natives but Selfridge (Administrator of the Pandora project) after seeing this orders an attack on the hometree and many natives are killed, even the clan chief, Neytiri's father.
Jake to gain trust of the natives connects himself with Toruk, a predator feared and honoured by the Natives. They all follow Jake in a battle against the army which is being lead by Miles. In the ensuing battle the fauna of the moon helps the Na'vi to defeat the humans, they see this as a sign of Eywa helping them out. Miles is killed by Neytiri, in the end Jake's soul is transferred into the Avatar using the tree of souls. The movies comments upon human greed and colonization of natives in various parts of the world.
