There is a craze and fervour among people about Ram Mandir and Lord Rama, now a set of commemorative stamps featuring Ayodhya's Ram Mandir and a book adorned with stamps dedicated to Lord Ram have surged in demand, emerging as the most sought-after stamps in the city.
The stamp collection comprises six distinct stamps, each featuring key figures and symbols associated with Lord Ram's narrative.
The design of the stamps encompasses essential elements related to Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, showcasing the temple itself, the revered Choupai 'Mangal Bhavan Amangal Hari,' the sun, the Saryu River, and the sculptures in and around the temple.
The stamps include depictions of the Ram Temple, Lord Ganesh, Lord Hanuman, Jatayu, Kevatraj, and Ma Shabri. The use of gold leaf detailing for the sun rays and the Choupai adds a regal touch to the miniature sheet, the postal official said.
Within just three days, the Telangana postal department's philately wing has sold 500 to 700 out of 2,100 miniatures. "Keeping in view the demand for the stamps, we have restricted sales to two miniatures per person to make it available for all," a senior official from philately wing told TOI.
The designs on the miniature reflect the five elements of nature - sky, air, fire, earth, and water, known as 'Panchabhutas.'
The miniature is priced at 100, with the first-day cover at 50, and the cancelled first-day cover at 150, available at Hyderabad GPO. Sunil Sharma, deputy director general of philately, India Post, explained, "Due to special elements, the Security Printing Press can print only a limited number of miniature sheets daily. Accordingly, the supply of stamps is being made in a staggered manner to postal circles."
