When the rest of India runs on chai, the people in Karnataka are in love with coffee.
Though our country has been growing and exporting coffee since the 1600s, the beverage gained popularity in recent times, owing to the evolving café culture.
Today, India is one of the biggest coffee producers in the world, with Karnataka contributing a whopping 71% of the overall production. You’ll find some of the most beautiful coffee plantations sprawling across Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Hassan.
Whether you’re looking for easily available coffee brands or gourmet coffee, most of them have had their humble beginnings in the state.
I would like to talk about my own native place which is rich with coffee plantation- BALEHONNUR
Balehonnur is a town in Narasimharajapura taluk, a township of the Chikkamagaluru district in the Indian state of Karnataka.
A well-maintained coffee estate spread over 212 acres. Just 25 kms from Chikmagalur, it is a large and beautiful plantation.
My grandma when asked to come to Mumbai City to meet me she would say,” not for more than a week Because I feel peace where I live, the beautiful fragrance of coffee beans enlightens my soul and a sip of the that coffee gives me strength to handle any obstacle that comes my way.”
I feel her now, she was so correct.
I’ve been going to my native every year and because of pandemic I couldn’t go last year and I felt how correct my grandma was. That place is magic, it is safe to call that place ‘peace to Once mind'.
Once I visited my native this January, I could feel my soul feeling relaxed as I stepped in as the cool breeze and a mist of coffee fragrance entered my nostril.
I am proud to be say my native is BALEHONNUR a true ‘coffee land' and has best people.
I can never get over that place.
A heaven on earth indeed!
This was my native place where coffee is planned is planted, but Karnataka has more than just one,
