Belgium announced their 26 man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Roberto Martinez has made some surprising selections in the squad for the tournament.

Belgium though being the global number one team in 2021 has failed to win a single international trophy till date. Despite having star players like Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku they have fallen short of expectations.

Romelu Lukaku, who has been suffering from a left thigh injury, has been selected in the squad for the world cup. The striker has played just five games for Inter Milan this season.

Lukaku who has been the main asset for Belgium till date is now suffering from injury. Martinez knowing the fact has still selected him in the squad in the hope of getting his service in the world cup.

Elsewhere, Eden Hazard has also been included in the squad despite being mostly benched for Real Madrid this season. He didn't get a chance to play since September in the La Liga.

Belgium also has one of the finest midfielders ever to play the game. Kevin De Bruyne has also been included in the squad for the world cup.

Belgium have underperformed in multiple occasions in the recent times and would not like to carry that form into the world cup.
