Not all moms are able to do it, and that's okay. But if you have an option to breastfeed your child, do read and decide;
1 Breastfeeding burns between 200-500 calories a day. It helps with weightloss and going back to pre-pregnancy size faster.
2 Brain releases the hormones prolactin and oxytocin hormones during breastfeeding, these help you to bond with baby and lower the risk of postpartum depression.
3 Hormone oxytocin helps your uterus contract and return to its normal size after delivery. It also reduces the amount of vaginal bleeding.
4 It supports a mother's long-term health and lowers a risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes.
5 Breast milk contains antibodies which strengthen your baby's immune system. Breastfed babies have a lower risk of many diseases.
6 It is easy for babies immature tummy and intestines to digest. Has the right amount of fat, sugar, water, protein and vitamins for your baby's development.
7 Last but not the least, breastmilk is low cost. It may have some initial costs like special clothing, nursing bras, creams etc., but it's more affordable than formula in the long run.
No doubt, Breastfeed is the best nutrition for your baby and has many benefits for you as a mother. However, the only right decision is the one that YOU choose to make for yourself and your baby.
