Today, an architectural marvel, the glorious and the modern venue built at Pragati Maidan in Delhi for the G20 Summit, the Bharat Mandapam has garnered global attention for its unique architecture and stunning craftsmanship was was a dream of a man for 8 years.
The man, Tariq Mujeeb Siddiqui, the director of the project, conceptualized every aspect of Bharat Mandapam, from its walls and pillars to the convention hall and exhibition point. He dedicated eight years to bring his vision to life. Designing the Bharat Mandapam in the sprawling 82-acre area of Pragati Maidan is considered the privilege of Siddiqui’s lifetime.
The mastermind behind its design is Chakia Chandauli, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
Tariq and his team faced several challenges in designing the Bharat Mandapam, primarily because it was the first time such an event was being organized in India. To gather inspiration and insights, they visited previous G-20 summit venues. With a team of 15 architects, including his colleague Sanjay Singh, Tariq meticulously crafted the Bharat Mandapam to showcase India’s rich culture and heritage to the world.
Bharat Mandapam has been specifically designed to host large-scale events in the country. The center was inaugurated by PM Modi and is considered a national project.
Hope the dream and hardwork of a man and his team, and a venue which has garnered international acclamation will only bring glory to India.
