Black Adam (2022)
A review of the film as available on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube
Black Adam is the story of the anti- hero as celebrated in the DC Comics folklore, though mostly seen as the antagonist to Shazam or Captain Marvel. However, this story doesn't dwell much on this supposed enmity but rather develops the individual of Black Adam as the savior of Kahndaq. The film shows his brand of justice as the reason he's not a hero as well as a fight that ensues between him and the Justice Society, consisting of Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Atom Smashes and Cyclone, working under approval from Amanda Waller to maintain government stability in various regions, dependent on US interpretations. This goes further when an ancient relic, known as the Crown of Sabbac gets stolen and leads to further disastrous consequences.
The storyline is comparatively unnecessarily lengthened, with useless folklore being put in, especially with regards to the recent rewriting that will be done by James Gunn, who's taking over the reins of the DCEU. The film was overly spread out with an extra number of cameos and promises being made, all of which are rendered futile by the announcements made by higher ups at DC. The storywriting is alright, but the only redeeming quality of the film is Dwayne Johnson and his acting, rest remains pretty much meh.
