Hi, I welcome you all to the blind race of unrealistic standards. All ladies, be attentive. You have high chances of winning, so do participate. The only rule of the game is to stick to all social media standards that your phone tells you. I know it's your device but for this race, it should be your master. Stick to the standards or you will be thrown out of the race. The one who ultimately passes all this will be declared as the winner. The winner will get thousands and lakhs of likes and comments with a lifetime package of depression and anxiety.
Sounds funny? But it isn't. Our generation is stuck in this standard race. Both men and women are its victims. But the chances of social media bullying and depression are more among young women than men. Women are more susceptible to looks. It wasn't that easy for these standards to penetrate our daily life using high-paid actresses and beauty pageants. But now they came in the form of peer endorsement. Many women succumb to it. Results? Depression, anxiety, body dissatisfaction, and self-hatred. The growing trend of flawlessness is a matter of concern as this makes us insecure which paves way for market players who are eager to sell on our insecurity. For instance, have you ever wondered why in a body hair removal advertisement, women always shave their already waxed legs? It's simple, this way we are made to believe that it's unnatural to have body hair for women, though we know it isn't. No doubt why the hair removal industry is booming and is estimated at US$1 Billion in the year 2020.
We need to be really conscious of what we adopt in this world full of fallacy. Solution? Read books to widen your horizons, talk about your insecurities to the people you trust, never lose touch with your real-life mates, and always ask for help whenever you are in need.
So, are you guys ready to participate in this blind race? For your information, There’s an option to withdraw. No extra charges will be levied on cancellation.
