Several areas in Delhi-NCR faced a harsh winter morning on Saturday, waking up to dense fog and bone-chilling temperatures. The national capital, already enduring cold weather, witnessed a further drop in temperature, creating challenging conditions for commuters navigating through thick blankets of fog.
Uttar Pradesh also experienced a foggy morning, exacerbating the winter discomfort for residents. In Rajasthan's Jaipur, streets were shrouded in fog, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting 'dense or very dense fog with cold day conditions.' The forecast indicates a minimum temperature of 8°C and a maximum of 18°C in Jaipur.
The IMD warns of dense to very dense fog and cold day to severe cold day conditions in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Additionally, isolated areas in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh may experience dense fog. The cold wave is expected to persist in isolated places in Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD also cautions about the potential for thunderstorms/lightning in isolated places in East Uttar Pradesh. Recent temperature recordings in Delhi, Chandigarh, Ambala, and Patiala show a departure from normal, with many places experiencing markedly below-normal temperatures. Haryana witnessed cold to severe cold conditions, and Rajasthan and Punjab had a few places with cold day conditions.
The situation is likely to continue, making it essential for residents to brace for the ongoing winter challenges.
