It's 2nd day of 2024, and there is no respite from cold weather in Delhi-NCR as residents wake up to bone-chiling weather.
A thick layer of fog engulfed the national capital and adjoining areas, reducing visibility due to which 26 trains are running late in Delhi, the Indian Railways said.
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the maximum temperatures in January are likely to be below normal over many parts of Central and Northwest India. The weather agency also stated that the cold-day to severe cold-day conditions are likely to continue over some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan during the next days.
From 5th to 11th January, we are expecting night temperature to fall, which may lead to cold wave conditions in some parts of central India. Day temperature will also be below normal leading to cold day conditions, especially in Madhya Pradesh, northern parts of Maharashtra, southern parts of Uttar Pradesh, and areas of Haryana and Rajasthan. In these areas, from the 5th to 11th we can expect cold wave conditions, Mrutynjay Mohapatra said as quoted by news agency ANI.
