You are probably living under a rock if you haven’t heard about Avatar 2. I still haven’t watched it but it seems like the movie is gaining popularity not only for its box office collections but for being boycotted by some!
Native Americans are leading a social media campaign pushing viewers to skip the much anticipated Avatar 2 movie.
The movie, which has already made $134 million domestically and $307.6 million internationally, has already come under fire for its underlying themes of colonialism and class oppression.
As per TN, after the release of Avatar 2, a campaign is currently urging audience members to avoid the fanciful movie.
Join Native Americans and other Indigenous groups worldwide in boycotting this abhorrent and racist movie, wrote Yuè Begay, a Navajo artist and co-chair of Indigenous Pride Los Angeles, on Twitter.
She also stated that "Our cultures were appropriated in a harmful manner to satisfy some man's saviour complex."
What do you think about it?
