Bukayo Saka has admitted that Arsenal are starting to believe that they can win this season's Premier League title.
The Gunners took on Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening, clinching a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Saka and Martin Odegaard whilst Gabriel Martinelli pitched in with a brace. That result leaves Mikel Arteta's side five points clear at the top of the table with 13 fixtures to go.
Now, Saka has admitted that he and his teammates are beginning to acknowledge they are in the race to bring the first league title to north London since Arsene Wenger's Invincible team back in 2004. Speaking after the full-time whistle, the England international said: "Yeah, we do believe."
Next up for the north Londoners is a match at home to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon before their UEFA Europa League knockout campaign gets underway five days later when they travel to Portugal to take on Sporting CP in the first leg of their round of 16 clash. Arsenal will be hoping they have star striker Gabriel Jesus returning to action sooner rather than later ahead of their busy schedule.
The Brazilian international has been sidelined with a knee injury ever since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but the Gunners are hopeful of having Jesus back in the first-team squad before the international break towards the end of March. Arteta's men will welcome Crystal Palace to N5 before club action pauses for a fortnight due to international fixtures.
Whilst there is no official timeframe for the 25-year-old's return to action, he is making very good progress according to the Arsenal manager. "Doing really well," Arteta said when asked how Jesus is doing.
"He’s on the pitch, he’s been doing quite a lot of work on the ball already and so far his rehab is going well."
