Can Harris do more than espouse esoteric thoughts of a future “unbound by time”…?  She’s not deep on policy. And she hasn’t had to be.  No one is holding her to account on what her platform actually looks like.  So she may surprise some if tonight she comes out and rings off several sentences on why she supports what she does; and do so beyond a populist message of advancing an America she’s always believe in.  This is why my first point is so important – the audience.  If all she’s doing is showing the donor class in her party that she can deliver a smart sentence, then don’t expect any deep sophisticated talk of a Harris Doctrine.  No way that happens.  But if she is running from behind and needs to chart a new path in this race – something I don’t believe her campaign feels just yet – then she may be forced to take some calculated risks.  I don’t see it happening, so this could be a boring back-and-forth.
 
 
Oh sure, the politeratti tomorrow will talk of zingers and one-liners.  And you can already bank that the Left-leaning news will say Harris won.

But in the end, I doubt the debate changes much.
