Amid tensions between two countries, Jagdeep Singh has been raising his voice and talking about the problems in Canada.
The leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), took his chance to push hopes for a better future for Canadians.
Singh, an MP for Burnaby South, said the ruling Trudeau government and the opposition are both not “interested in change”. He asserted that he is not “backed by billionaires” and is fighting for the people.
In the video shared with this post, he was seen speaking among a crowd of youngsters.
“Young people are going to inherit the planet, they are going to inherit the country, so they matter. Your voices don’t matter just for the future, they matter today, and we need to take that seriously. So I am really interested in engaging seriously with young people and also giving them hope,” he was heard saying in the video.
Jagmeet urges them to vote, promising a change if his party comes to power. “I believe that one of the biggest things that drives apathy, that drives people to not come out and vote, is what people say -- what’s the point of voting, right? It will either be the blue team or the red team,” he said.
“But if we think about the major changes, where we really did things to lift people up, like old age security, pension, medicare, these changes came in when the New Democrats were in power,” Jagmeet notes, stating that the parties in power are not interested in these things.
