Luis Diaz scored twice in seven minutes to give Liverpool a 2-0 lead at Old Trafford, with both goals resulting from mistakes by Casemiro. In the 37th minute, Casemiro's attempted pass was intercepted by Ryan Gravenberch, leading to Diaz finishing off a cross from Mohamed Salah. Shortly after, Casemiro was easily shrugged off the ball by Casemiro and the ball was worked to Salah, who set up Diaz to score his second goal of the afternoon. The former Real Madrid midfielder was substituted at half-time, with Toby Collyer coming on for his Premier League debit.
